Block Substitutions and Their Properties
We introduce a type of substitution operation inspired by errors occurring in biologically encoded information. We derive the closure properties of language families in the Chomsky hierarchy under these substitution operations. Moreover, we consider some language equations involving these operations and investigate decidability of the existence of solutions to such equations.
متن کاملUsing a Block Metaphor for Representing R2RML Mappings
R2RML is a W3C Recommendation that provides for the declaration of mappings to generate RDF datasets from relational databases. One issue that hampers its adoption is the manual effort needed in the creation and maintenance of such mappings. To tackle this problem, various initiatives have started to emerge. One of the directions is to investigate how different representations can facilitate th...
متن کاملBlock Maps between Primitive Uniform and Pisot Substitutions
In this article, we prove that for all pairs of primitive Pisot or uniform substitutions with the same dominating eigenvalue, there exists a finite set of block maps such that every block map between the corresponding subshifts is an element of this set, up to a shift. This result is proved using a common generalization of block maps and substitutions, which we call dill maps.
متن کاملDisturbance Rejection Using SPR0 Substitutions
The disturbance rejection, defined as the problem of designing control laws that ensure, where possible, exogenous disturbances that do not affect the output of the perturbed system, has been resolved by means of algebraic and geometric techniques. This is a steady linear case by means of the static feedback state. Modifications of the Smith form through the SPR0 substitutions are presented whi...
متن کاملSoftware Performance Characterization of Block Cipher Structures Using S-boxes and Linear Mappings
In this paper, we present a new framework for evaluating the performance characteristics of block cipher structures composed of S-boxes and Maximum Distance Separable (MDS) mappings. In particular, a novel performance metric is introduced and applied to nested Substitution-Permutation Networks (SPNs) and Feistel networks with round functions composed of S-boxes and MDS mappings. Within each cip...
